We take great care in the shipping of your selected tree and related merchandise. Each shipment is custom packaged to assure safe delivery and because each order is custom packed, the shipping time is approximately 5-10 days from the time of your order. Please allow this extra time if you are tracking your order through UPS.
Our prices include the handling, the insurance and the packing charges as we measure and weigh each tree before setting our prices. At the time of processing your order you need only to select the appropriate means of shipping to your address and our software will then calculate and add these costs to the price of your tree. We have developed this pricing structure to make your shopping experience less complicated and more seamless.
If you reside in the West, we suggest you select 2nd Day or Next Day Air. As the trees are living Botanical "items" a ground shipment to the West coast or western states could take more than a week. To confine the tree without light and air for this amount of time may compromise its health.
If you live in the Mid-West, New England, or in the Southern states, shipment via UPS ground should be sufficient. Deliveries cannot be made to Post Office Boxes and at present we do not ship internationally. Payment for all purchases and shipping is in US dollars and must be made before your tree is shipped.
Because a Bonsai Tree is a living plant, commercial shippers will not allow us to insure their "life force". We do insure the shipment value of the tree to protect a loss from a damaged shipping container. We personally pack each tree and oversee the shipping through our local UPS. Each container is reinforced to add additional strength and is oversized to allow protection on all sides.
We are not responsible for damage after delivering the order to the UPS carrier. If there is a damage problem with your shipment, keep the packaging material and notify both UPS (800-742-5877) and our Shipping Customer Service Department (877-202-8962 Ext. 2). UPS may choose to pickup the damaged goods for return to us. Once notified by you, UPS will contact our office and we will complete the claim. Failure to notify both UPS and DBMB Bonsai & Saikei may nullify your claim.
Each tree is thoroughly watered before shipping and the planter and base are wrapped in a plastic film to assure moisture retention. When you unpack your tree remove this wrapping at once and check the soil. If needed give your tree a thorough watering (see our detailed instructions on Caring For Your New Bonsai) and welcome it warmly to your home, garden or office!
